On May 12, 2026, at 10:22 p.m., officers responded to a fatal motorcycle crash on Interstate 55 southbound west of the Interstate 240/Interstate 55 junction. Two motorcycle riders were involved in a crash. Both male riders were transported to the hospital in critical condition. William Stewart, one of the riders, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The second rider remains in critical condition.
