The Memphis Police Department continues to achieve strong results in violent crime investigations, maintaining an 82% homicide clearance rate as investigators work to identify and apprehend those responsible for violent offenses in our city.
In two separate homicide investigations this week, MPD Homicide investigators quickly identified suspects in both investigations, and the MPD Fugitive Unit took both individuals into custody on Thursday without incident.
“Maintaining an 82% homicide clearance rate reflects the dedication and urgency of the investigators in our Homicide Unit who work tirelessly to solve violent crimes,” said Chief Cerelyn “C.J.” Davis. “We will continue using every available resource to identify and hold violent criminals accountable, bring justice to victims and their families, and sustain the gains we’ve made in reducing violent crime.”
