On July 9, 2026, at 11:53 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 300 block of South Orleans Street. Officers arrived and did not locate a victim on the scene, but located a crime scene inside one of the apartments. A short time later, officers were advised that the 16-year-old male victim arrived at the hospital by private vehicle. He had been shot and was pronounced deceased. At the time of the shooting, there were additional victims inside the apartment, but they were uninjured.

The suspects were three Black males wearing all black clothing, and all were armed with guns. They fled the scene southbound on South Orleand in a white sedan.
