On June 19, 2025, at 12:18 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at 3571 Lamar Avenue. Officers located a male victim who was transported to Regional One in critical condition. The male victim was door-dashing at the restaurant when an unknown male suspect approached the victim from behind and opened fire on him in the middle of a crowded restaurant. The victim was struck several times. The suspect fled the scene eastbound from Lamar and Democrat.
The suspect was wearing a white t-shirt, gray jeans, and dark shoes. He was armed with a black semi-automatic pistol.
At 6:04 p.m., officers placed Malik Willis in custody at 2602 Mount Moriah Road.
Malik Wills, 18, was charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder and Employment of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.
