On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at approximately 8:10 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 600 block of Highland Street. Officers were advised that the victim had loaned the suspect $10 several weeks prior, and when he asked the suspect to repay the money, the suspect shot him. Officers reviewed video surveillance from the area, which showed the suspect riding a purple bicycle and approaching the victim. After a brief interaction, the suspect attempted to strike the victim before producing a handgun and shooting him. The suspect fled the scene on a purple bicycle, traveling westbound on Southern Avenue.

The suspect was described as a Black male, approximately 45–50 years of age, 6’00” tall, weighing approximately 200 pounds, medium complexion, with short hair, and armed with a handgun.
