On Friday, July 4, 2025, at 1:47 a.m., officers responded to an armed party disturbance call at Peabody Place and Rufus Thomas Boulevard. Officers were advised by the Downtown Command Center, which observed the disturbance in real-time via surveillance cameras. As officers approached the area on foot, a black Nissan Juke was seen leaving a parking lot heading east on Peabody Place. A passenger in the Nissan Juke began to fire several shots at officers as the vehicle left the scene. Officers were forced to take cover as bullets started to impact near where they were standing. Victor Peeler was later identified as the person who fired shots at officers. A warrant (#25009938) has been issued for his arrest.
