On December 25, 2025, at 11:06 a.m., officers responded to a shooting at 4138 Kirby Parkway. Officers located a male victim who was pronounced deceased on the scene. A short time later, officers were notified that a second individual suffering from a gunshot wound arrived at the hospital in non-critical condition. These two individuals were involved in an altercation before the shooting.

Ja’Vonte Cooper, 19, was charged with Second Degree Murder and Employment of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.
