On Tuesday, November 18, during Chief Davis’s Public Safety presentation before the Memphis City Council, she highlighted new year-to-date crime data showing historic reductions in Part I crime across every precinct in the City of Memphis.
While we recognize that continued work remains, the latest data shows that Memphis is making real, measurable progress toward building a safer community.
Significant Declines Across All Precincts
Year-to-date comparisons show that all nine MPD precincts have recorded double-digit decreases in Part I crime:
• Ridgeway Station leads the city with a 36.83% reduction.
• Mt. Moriah Station reports a 32.57% decrease.
• Raines Station is down 28.87%, and Appling Farms Station has a 23.81% reduction.
• North Main, Airways, Austin Peay, Crump, and Tillman each report consistent decreases ranging from 19% to 22%.
Three-Year Comparison Shows Sustained Progress
A three-year year-to-date comparison (2023–2025) further illustrates the impact of MPD’s renewed crime-fighting strategies.
Across nearly every month in 2025, Part I crime totals are substantially lower than during the same months in 2023 and 2024.
Highlights include:
• January fell from 5,233 (2023) and 4,230 (2024) to 3,710 (2025).
• March declined from 5,300 (2023) to 3,632 (2025).
• August dropped from 5,787 (2023) to 3,305 (2025)—a 43% decrease compared to two years prior.
These reductions reflect strategic policing efforts, increased visibility, leveraging technology to address violent crime, and strong community partnerships that enhance public safety. It takes all of us to build a Stronger, Safer Memphis.
