On Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 11:39 p.m., officers responded to a fatal pedestrian crash at Lamar Avenue south of American Way. Upon arriving on the scene, officers found that a pedestrian was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle while assisting a motorist in the northbound lanes of Lamar Avenue. The pedestrian was transported to Regional One Health in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The hit-and-run driver fled the scene northbound on Lamar through the intersection at American Way. The unknown hit-and-run vehicle is possibly a silver or gray Nissan Armada and will have damage to the passenger’s front and be missing the passenger-side mirror.
