On June 28, 2025, at approximately 11:20 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at Interstate 240 West and Highway 385 East. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

Earlier that evening, at approximately 10:55 p.m., the victims were observed leaving the parking lot of Ruth’s Chris Steak House, located at 6120 Poplar Avenue, in a gray Kia Stinger. A black Nissan Maxima was observed leaving the parking lot behind the victims’ vehicle.

The vehicles were later observed traveling westbound on Interstate 240 West, north of Highway 385 East. The Kia was traveling in the right lane, while the Nissan was traveling in the left lane. As the vehicles traveled alongside one another, the front-seat passenger of the Nissan was observed leaning out of the window and firing multiple shots at the Kia.

A female occupant of the Kia was struck by the gunfire and later succumbed to her injuries. The Nissan Maxima was observed fleeing westbound on Interstate 240 West at a high rate of speed.
