On January 22, 2025, at 11:45 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 2900 block 0f Signal Street. The shooting occurred at Windy Avenue and Time Street. The victim, 41-year-old Alvin Slaughter, was pronounced deceased on the scene. Before the shooting, Mr. Slaughter made a stop at a convenience store on Raleigh-Millington Road while operating a rented U-Haul Truck.

The Memphis Police Department believes there are individuals in the community who may have information that could help move this case forward. Even small details, such as seeing Mr. Slaughter, the U-Haul truck, the convenience store stop, or any unusual activity in either area that evening, may be significant.
