UPDATE:
After an hours-long search for suspect Larry Berry, investigators received information that he may be in the area of Marks, Mississippi.
Multiple agencies coordinated efforts to locate Berry, including the Memphis Police Department, Marks Police Department, Tunica County Sheriff’s Office, FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and other local, state and federal partners.
Berry was located in a wooded area near the City of Marks with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head. Berry was pronounced deceased while Quitman County was attempting to transport him to an area hospital.
This remains an active investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
At approximately 7:30 a.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 7900 block of Racquetball Lane. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim who had been shot. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Officers searched the area and were initially unable to locate the victim’s two children.
Officers were advised that the suspected shooter, described as a Black male, fled the scene in a black Mercedes sedan with the victim’s children. The victim and suspect were previously in a relationship.
The two juveniles were located safely in Robinsville, Mississippi.
A manhunt is now underway for 35-year-old Larry Berry.
The information is preliminary, and the investigation remains ongoing.
