On March 7, 2026, officers responded to a drug complaint at 2675 Getwell Road. A male wearing a black Adidas tracksuit was observed by law enforcement exiting the passenger side of a silver Acura sedan and engaging in a hand-to-hand transaction with another individual.

MPD officers arrived and detained the male, identified as Xavion Summers. Officers located a handgun and more than 500 grams of marijuana on the passenger side of the vehicle that Summers was occupying.

While transporting Summers to jail, the officer was involved in a crash after another driver disregarded a red light at Jefferson Avenue and Dunlap Street. The officer was transported to the hospital, where he was treated and released. Summers was also taken to the hospital as a precaution for evaluation prior to being transported to jail.

On March 8, 2026, after being medically cleared, Summers was escorted by an officer to a squad car. As the officer opened the vehicle door, Summers shoved the officer to the ground and ran from the scene. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate him.

A warrant was issued charging Xavion Summers with Assault Against a First Responder, Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Manufacture/Deliver/Sell (Marijuana), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Theft of Property $1,000 or Less (Handcuffs), and Escape.

On March 9, 2026, the Mt Moriah Station Task Force located and arrested Summers in the 5900 block of Grosvenor Road.
