At approximately 5:52 a.m., an officer responded to a wounding where a male had been stabbed at a business located at 4260 Winchester Road. Upon arrival, the officer encountered an armed male with an edged weapon who had reportedly stabbed another individual.

As the officer attempted to arrest the suspect, the man attempted to stab the officer. The officer discharged his weapon, striking the subject. The officer immediately rendered aid and requested assistance from the Memphis Fire Department.

The subject was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The victim from the original call was transported to the hospital in non-critical condition, treated, and later released.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has been notified and will lead the investigation. All further updates regarding this incident will be provided by TBI.
