On May 2, 2025, at 8:48 p.m., officers responded to a purse snatching in the parking lot of Kroger at 1366 Poplar Avenue. Officers were advised that between 6:40 and 7:12 p.m., the victim was walking through the parking lot after leaving the store. An unknown heavy-set Black male approached her. The man attempted to snatch her purse, and during the struggle, she fell to the ground screaming for help. She was able to keep her purse, and the male left the scene on foot, walking toward the Walgreens. The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital in non-critical condition.

The suspect was a heavy-set Black male wearing a red shirt and unknown colored pants.
