On Monday, July 20, 2026, officers responded to a man-down call in the 3700 block of North Watkins, where they located a male victim in a field suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
Homicide investigators responded to the scene, processed evidence, and searched the area. During the investigation, they recovered video showing a male wearing pink shorts walking with the victim shortly before the homicide.
On Thursday, July 23, investigators identified the male in the video as 18-year-old Roy Bills. They located Bills in the 1700 block of Carlye Drive and executed a search warrant at the residence, where they recovered additional evidence linking him to the crime.
Roy Bills, 18, was charged with First-Degree Murder, First-Degree Murder in the Perpetration of a Robbery, and Employment of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.
