The Memphis Police Department, in coordination with the City of Memphis and the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, is taking action to close Legends Lounge, located at 6232 Knight Arnold Road, following a documented pattern of violence and criminal activity at and around the establishment.
This action follows a long-term investigation by MPD’s Organized Crime Unit and continued incidents of violence after the responsible parties were formally notified of criminal activity associated with the location.
Since March 15, 2023, 58 documented incidents have occurred at Legends Lounge, including six aggravated assaults involving the discharge of firearms and one homicide. Investigators also identified seven additional incidents stemming from altercations associated with the club, including conflicts that continued at the adjacent gas station and shootings that occurred after individuals left the establishment.
On April 24, 2026, pursuant to Tennessee’s nuisance-abatement law, written notice was provided to the responsible parties. The notice was personally served by MPD officers.
Despite that notice, another assault occurred at the property on July 23, 2026, resulting in criminal charges.
As complaints involving fights, aggravated assaults, drug activity and other criminal activity continued, detectives with MPD’s Organized Crime Unit conducted a long-term investigation into the location.
On August 9, 2026, OCU investigators and partner agencies executed a search warrant at Legends Lounge. Officers encountered more than 300 people inside a business with a maximum occupancy of 99. The operation resulted in multiple arrests. Investigators also identified employees with outstanding warrants, armed security personnel working without proper state licensing, and evidence related to alleged illegal narcotics activity and unlawful alcohol sales. More than $7,000 was seized based on probable cause that the money was connected to illegal narcotics activity.
Then, on September 20 and September 21, two separate shootings occurred in the immediate area, resulting in multiple people being shot. One victim was critically injured.
These incidents occurred after the responsible parties had already been placed on notice regarding the ongoing criminal activity associated with the establishment.

Places matter.
“When a business becomes a consistent source of violence and criminal activity, it doesn’t just affect the people inside that establishment, Chief C.J. Davis said. “It affects the surrounding businesses, the neighborhood and the people who live and work in that community. We have a responsibility to address places where criminal activity continues and take action to protect our community from the negative impacts of these nuisance businesses.”
The nuisance closure of Legends Lounge is not based on one incident. It follows a documented history of violence, formal notification to the responsible parties, continued police responses, a long-term investigation, enforcement action and additional violent incidents.
Notice was provided. The violence continued. Now, action is being taken.
The Memphis Police Department will continue working with the City of Memphis, the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office and our law enforcement partners to address locations where repeated violence and criminal activity threaten the safety of our community.
“When a business drives more incidents than comparable businesses, it’s a concern. When there is a series of violations, it’s a priority. When the incidents are violent, we act quickly—as our prosecutors, and MPD, did in this case,” District Attorney Steve Mulroy said.
