19-year-old Mardracus Cooper was identified as an additional suspect, and an arrest warrant was issued for First-Degree Murder, Attempted First-Degree Murder, Especially Aggravated Robbery, Employing a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault, and Theft of Property $1,000–$2,500.

On October 7, 2026, MPD’s Fugitive Unit coordinated with partner law enforcement agencies, and Cooper was taken into custody in Cleveland, Ohio, where he is awaiting extradition to Shelby County.

On May 4, 2026, at approximately 12:07 a.m., officers responded to a shooting call in the 800 block of Hamilton Street. Officers located a male and female suffering from gunshot wounds. The male victim was pronounced deceased on the scene, and the female victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

During the investigation, investigators determined that Jada Garrett, 22, was responsible for the shooting. An arrest warrant was issued for Garrett charging her with First-Degree Murder, Criminal Attempted First-Degree Murder, Especially Aggravated Robbery, and Employing a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.

On October 5, 2026, Garrett was located and taken into custody.
