MPD Announces Nuisance Closure on Budget Host Inn & Suites After Persistent Criminal Activity

The Memphis Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit, along with Raines and Ridgeway Station officers, the City of Memphis, and the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, has taken action to close Budget Host Inn & Suites at 2745 Airways Boulevard following a documented pattern of criminal activity at the property.

Between September 18, 2024, and September 18, 2026, officers responded to 792 calls for service at the property, resulting in 166 reports and 71 arrests. Calls included:

  • 75 armed person calls
  • 123 disturbance calls
  • 23 fight calls
  • 7 drug overdose calls
  • 5 robbery calls
  • 3 carjacking calls
  • 4 shootings in which victims were struck by gunfire

Additional reported criminal activity included aggravated assaults, sexual assaults, burglaries, vehicle thefts, and narcotics violations.

On April 29, 2026, pursuant to Tennessee’s nuisance-abatement law, written notice was issued to the responsible parties. Criminal activity continued at the property, including aggravated assaults, armed robberies, and shootings.

The closure addresses a sustained pattern of activity that has created significant safety concerns for the surrounding community.
