Arrested: Homicide – 6800 Block of Ridge Lake Drive

UPDATE: On August 17, 2026, the MPD Fugitive Unit apprehended Eddie Gant, who had an active warrant for First-Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.

On August 7, 2026, at 6:21 a.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 6800 block of Ridge Lake Drive. Officers located the 53-year-old victim, Darrell Neely, lying on the ground after he was shot. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Darrell Neely was involved in a verbal argument with the suspect, Eddie Lee Gant III. Moments after the argument, Gant shot Neely several times and fled in a 2014 red Dodge Avenger.

A warrant has been issued charging 28-year-old Eddie Lee Gant with First-Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.
