MPD Apprehends First-Degree Murder Suspect

On July 8, 2026, the Memphis Police Department arrested 28-year-old Marquillo Kelly in connection with the homicide in the 4100 block of Barron Avenue.
On July 8, at approximately 4:00 p.m., MPD officers responded to a shooting and located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim, later identified as Darrell Jones, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
As officers continued their investigation, they quickly identified Kelly as the suspect. A short time later, Kelly was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder and Employing a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.
