On October 23, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the MPD Auto Theft Task Force (ATTF) and Code Enforcement investigated a complaint in the 1900 block of Pinedale Avenue. When they arrived, they discovered an illegal chop shop in full operation. Investigators recovered a stolen 2018 Dodge Charger, a 2019 Dodge Challenger, and a Chevrolet Camaro with the transmission removed, fitted with a Corvette engine and wheels. Investigators also identified stolen vehicle parts, including a hood, an engine, and a transmission. They also seized items used to run the chop shop, including tools, car dollies, a car hauler, and a utility trailer.

Kevin Carter, 36, was charged with Theft of Property to wit: Auto $10,000-$60,000 (5X), Altering/Changing Engine/Serial Number Fraudulently, Prohibited Operation/Ownership of a Chop Shop, and Theft of Property $1,000 or less to wit: License Plate.

Ernest Dandridge, 63, was charged with Theft of Property to wit: Auto $10,000-$60,000 (5X), Altering/Changing Engine/Serial Number Fraudulently, Prohibited Operation/Ownership of a Chop Shop, and Theft of Property $1,000 or less to wit: License Plate.
