On February 18, 2026, at approximately 1:06 a.m., Memphis Police responded to a shooting in the 1600 block of Dabbs Ave. Officers made the scene and located two males suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition and the other was pronounced deceased on the scene.
During the course of the investigation, homicide investigators determined that Brandon Coleman, 20, was responsible for the shooting.
On March 17, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m., police executed a search warrant to a residence in the 2500 block of Nina Dr. Officers located firearms that were used in the shooting but did not locate Coleman. Officers also located and seized marijuana, cocaine, drug paraphernalia and approximately $4,400 believed to be profits from drug sales. A juvenile in the residence was observed in close proximity to one of the firearms and drugs.
On August 5, 2026, at approximately 8:02 a.m., officers located Brandon Coleman in the 1500 block of Gabay St., where he was taken into custody without incident.
Brandon Coleman was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder, Attempted First-Degree Murder, Aggravated Robbery, two counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Child Abuse and Neglect 8 Years of Age or Less, Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Manufacture/Deliver/Sell to wit: Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Theft of Property $1,000 to $2,500.
