MPD Investigates Four Weekend Homicides, Most Linked to Domestic Violence and Personal Conflicts

This weekend, Memphis experienced four homicides, three of which investigators determined stemmed from domestic violence situations, personal disputes, or conflicts between individuals who knew one another. None of the incidents appear to be random acts of violence or robbery-related.

Investigators received information that the suspect was the victim’s boyfriend and had fled to a location in Mississippi. Law enforcement partners were contacted, and the suspect, 33-year-old Princeton Morris, was located and arrested. He is currently in custody in Mississippi, awaiting extradition. A warrant was issued charging Morris with Second-Degree Murder, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Theft of a Firearm less than $2,500, and Theft of Property $2,500–$10,000.

He later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. Homicide investigators determined the victim had been involved in a physical altercation with a neighbor prior to being fatally wounded.

At 11:25 p.m., officers responded to a local hospital where a 20-year-old male, later identified as Jamarion Kerr, arrived suffering from a stab wound. Kerr was treated and taken into custody. He has been charged with First-Degree Murder.

Four people lost their lives this weekend, and multiple families are now facing unimaginable loss. In nearly every case, the violence escalated from an argument or personal conflict between individuals who knew one another.

The Memphis Police Department is urging community members to pause, walk away, and seek another solution before emotions turn deadly. A single moment of anger can have permanent consequences — leaving families devastated, children traumatized, and lives forever changed.
