Out Memphis Suspect Arrested

On August 20, 2026, an indictment was secured, and a warrant was issued charging 38-year-old Lorenzo Matthews with Attempted Second-Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault (2X), and Employment of a Firearm with the Intent to Commit a Felony.

On August 28, 2026, the MPD Fugitive Unit located Matthews in the 900 block of Early Maxwell and took him into custody.

Matthews was responsible for a shooting that occurred on May 5, 2026, at 892 Cooper Street at Out Memphis. Officers located a male and a female victim who had been shot and were transported to the hospital in critical condition.
